Airrace is a British hard rock band formed in 1982 by guitarist Laurie Mansworth (former More), who was joined by singer Phil Lewis, bassist Jim Reid and drummer Simon Tomkins. On the night of their first concert, which took place on February 11, 1983 at the Marquee Club in London, the famous manager Peter Grant offered Laurie the opportunity to hire a promising young drummer named Jason Bonham. With this line-up Airrace released the first record “Shaft of Light”. The band toured Europe in 1985, but the departures of Jason Bonham and Keith Murrell were a fatal blow to Airrace, which separated in 1986.
Airrace reformed in 2009 around Laurie and Keith and a second album “Back to the Start” was released in 2011 via Frontiers Records.
